The IRS requests we make you aware that you are responsible for the timely filing of employment tax returns and timely payment of employment taxes even if you have authorized a third party to file the returns and make the payments. IRS recommends that you enroll in EFTPS (instructions below) to monitor your account and ensure that timely tax payments are being made by visiting www.eftps.gov. State and local tax authorities may offer similar verification programs. Instructions are below or contact applicable agencies directly for details.
EFTPS – Electronic Federal Tax Payment System
EFTPS allows PaySmart to send your federal tax payments electronically. To view payments made on your behalf you will need to register with EFTPS to receive your PIN (Personal Identification Number). Complete the online New Taxpayer Enrollment Form (click on hyperlink to access form) https://www.eftps.com/eftps/ and within 15 days you’ll receive your PIN in the mail at your IRS address of record. You will also need to create an Internet Password. Instructions for the Internet Password will be delivered in the mail with your PIN.
Once you have registered with EFTPS you will then have access to view your federal payments being made by PaySmart. Please know it can take a couple of days after the payment date for the payment to post to your account.
